What does PE and Sports mean at Brayton?

We believe that active, healthy learners will have positive attitudes towards themselves and all of their learning. Participation in high quality physical education develops confidence, co-ordination, concentration and self-esteem. These are all vital skills for positive learning behaviour in and out of the classroom.

PE has a central part to play in the learning and development of all our children and is a high profile part of our curriculum, contributing to health, wellbeing and self-esteem of our school community.

Talent and aptitude for sport is encouraged and celebrated through support for school teams, outside achievements and initiatives like our 'young leaders' where children support the physical play of others.

We believe in a holistic approach to the development of sport and physical activity for all. Encouraging collaboration and partnership is important to us to make the best use of resources and enhance PE and sport provision in order to raise participation and achievement for all children. PE and sport is taught both by school staff and external providers.

What extra-curricular clubs run at Brayton?

Our main sporting clubs run seasonally and at any one time in the year may include:
Football, netball, multi-skills, athletics etc. We often offer other short term clubs as far as staffing allows, as we like to take advantage of stakeholders’ interests and abilities.

However, we do like to concentrate more on quality of a few core sports in order to gain confidence in general team and ball skills.
We also provide a variety of break time physical games and activities on the site. We have wonderful grounds where children can climb, run, balance and hopscotch to their heart's content! EYFS has the use of excellent outside continuous provision.
